NPO1 Radio debate about the transgender law

Wijziging Transgenderwet brengt de veiligheid van vrouwen in gevaar

Minister Dekker van rechtsbescherming is van plan de Transgenderwet voor een tweede keer aan te passen. Hij wil dat iedereen voortaan zelf zijn geslacht mag bepalen, zonder artsenverklaring. Maar de consequentie is een fundamentele aantasting van rechten van vrouwen.

‘Her penis’ and other facts we all should know

If you believe that there are only two sexes, male and female, you may well be a bigot. And if you choose to express that belief on social media you deserve to be fired. This is the upshot of a ruling in December 2019, which was heralded as a victory for equality by transgender activists. The case in question centred on consultant Maya Forstater, whose contract at the think tank Centre for Global Development (CGD) was not renewed after she expressed such views on social media. Forstater took CGD to an employment tribunal on the basis that her “gender critical” beliefs should receive protection under the law. She lost. Defending her stance, Forstater explained: “Fundamentally I believe in fairness and equality. I do not harbour any ill-feeling towards people who identify as transgender or transsexual, I simply think it is important not to forget about the power dynamics between men and women in society.

Why won't the Liberal government make its Gender Based Analysis public?

Our prime minister is a proud feminist, a zealous champion in the protection of women’s rights. With that objective in mind, Justin Trudeau decreed early in his tenure that all new policies by his government would thenceforth include a Gender Based Analysis (GBA) to assess their impact on women. Bill C-16, informally known as the “Transgender Rights Bill,” was proposed in the summer of 2016 and rushed to passage in May 2017. C-16 added the terms “gender identity” and “gender expression” to the Canadian Human Rights Act and to our Criminal Code. It wasn’t long before sharp-eyed observers expressed strong misgivings about C-16’s shortcomings and potential for harm to biological women.

Transgender homicide rate 'remarkably low' despite cries of 'national epidemic'

Calls to combat a purported epidemic of killings targeting transgender people, especially women of color, are rising, even though U.S. data indicates that people who identify as members of the opposite sex are less likely to end up as homicide victims than their non-transgender counterparts. Kentucky State University associate professor Wilfred Reilly found that the 2017 homicide death rate for transgender people was about 1.48 per 100,000, less than a third of the overall murder rate of about 5 per 100,000 and a fraction of the rate for men in general (6.68) or black people (18.8).

Detransitioners are living proof the practices surrounding ‘trans kids’ need be questioned

On November 30th, 2019, over 200 attendees packed inside a secret location in the centre of Manchester to attend the first-ever forum of its kind. The sold-out event, “Detransition: The Elephant in the Room,” signified the official launch of the The Detransition Advocacy Network (TDAN), and was organized by local independent feminist collective, Make More Noise, and Charlie Evans, a detransitioner and a co-founder of TDAN. The event consisted of two panels: the first featured medical experts discussing their expertise and insight into gender reassignment services, and the second was made up of desisting young women who have been ostracized in this new age of blind gender ideology acceptance. The two-hour long discussion was opened by the testimonies of two anonymous female-to-male (FTM) detransitioners. They called for better support for desisting individuals and agreed that physical transition is not always the perfect solution to dealing with debilitating gender dysphoria.

UN Women to Replace “Women” with “Gender”

The UN agency for women announced it is no longer focused on women’s rights but rather “equality of all genders,” including LGBTIQ+. The announcement came at a UN event called “Gender Diversity Beyond Binaries.” UN Women Executive Director Mfuzile Mlambo-Ngcuka said, “We cannot talk about ‘leaving no one behind’ without LBGQTI+,” that panel moderator Imara Jones defined as lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, questioning or queer, intersex, pan sexual, gender non-conforming, nonbinary, and “the full range of gender diversities that exist.” Mlambo-Ngcuka claimed “sexual orientation and gender identity” are core values of the Sustainable Development Goals, signaling that billions in aid meant for women may be redirected if UN agencies take it upon themselves to redefine the internationally-agreed goal of “gender equality” away from women’s rights. De minister wil het eenvoudiger te maken om van geslacht te veranderen. Een man met zijn klokkenspel intact, een baard en mannenkleren kan dan met een pennenstreek zichzelf in vrouw veranderen en toegelaten wordt tot domeinen van vrouwen.

"Jag önskar att det hade funnits andra sätt att behandla mina problem"

Nita upplever att hennes psykiska problem inte beaktades då hon inledde en könskorrigeringsprocess från kvinna till man. Efter bara några år som man ångrade hon sig och lever nu som kvinna igen. I Finland har man inlett en utredning för att få veta hur många liknande fall det finns.
