Sex-based rights around the world

New Brazilian law criminalizes psychologic violence against women - and says sex, not "gender"

Brazil has criminalized psychologic violence against women. Law nº 14.188/2021 says, briefly, that it´s a crime to damage our development, control our emotions, behaviours, beliefs etc. using harassment, manipulation e limiting our freedom, as example. Although "gender identity" politics are quite strong there, the law mentions sex and not "gender". It´s a sex-based right! Many people worked for it, as Eloisa Samy, a lawyer, lesbian, Radical Feminist and member of "Frente LGB Brasil" (LGB Front Brazil), congresswomen Margarete Coelho and Rose de Freitas and the NGO Instituto Anjos da Liberdade.

Mexico City Congress allows children to change sex marker on birth cert

Last Friday WHRC Mexico delivered a letter to Mexico City Congress, stating how harmful the pending “trans kids bill” would be if passed. The next day the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, published a decree for 12 year-olds onward to change the sex box in their birth certificate. Trans activists are happy but not entirely satisfied because they don’t want any kind of age limitation for self-ID, so they will keep pushing for it to be passed, now with the newly appointed legislature. Read the WHRC Mexico letter and newsletter here

One of its founders and editors, Batya Weinbaum, has signed the Declaration and is offering two study groups on the works of Shulamith Firestone largely to WHRC supporters. The idea  grew out of her presentations as a panellist explaining how difficult it is to teach as a radical feminist in the malestream universities, as well as discussing the book Dialectic of Sex. You can read more about Femspec here and support their work here
