WHRC issues statement on language use

Women's rights activist exonerated in the US

Thistle Pettersen, a musician and feminist in the US, faced felony criminal charges with a hate crime enhancement for putting up 'TERF Collective' stickers in Wisconsin. All charges were dismissed on 27 September. 

Incheon Women's Line leaves Korean Women's Line

Incheon Women's Line, which hosted Sheila Jeffreys' book tour of Gender Hurts in 3 South Korean cities in 2019, left their umbrella organization Korea Women's Line last week. Incheon Women's Line had been pressured to expel Jihye Kuk, the director of Yeolda Books who has always been very vocal about her criticism of transgenderism on social media, from their organization on the ground of her 'hate speech' against transgenderism. Although Incheon group is the oldest member among the 25 regioanl groups under Korea Women's Line, they courageously decided to leave Korea Women's Line rather than sacrificing their principle of putting women first. French medical experts come out against gender ideology

About 50 doctors, psychologists and academics have signed an open letter in the L'Express newspaper speaking out against the transitioning of children. 

Labour party MPs compete to say stupidest thing

As the Labour party conference takes place in Brighton, England, its MPs have made a series of alarmingg media statements. First Keir Starmer said it is not 'right' to say that only women have a cervix, then Rachel Reeves struggled to defend him in a 'car crash' interview, then David Lammy announced that women who fear the loss of single-sex spaces are 'dinosaurs' who are 'hoarding rights'. 

Two men take women's places in Bundestag

Two men, both of whom support the sale of women in prostitution, have been elected to the Bundestag. Three women in total were prevented from standing to make way for men. 

Breastfeeding support organisation doubles down on gender language

Hundreds of breastfeeding groups and counsellors across the world wrote to La Leche League International to complain that enforcing gender idedology is authoritarian, US-centric and cultural imperialism. Read the letter and response from LLLI.

Kamla Bhasin dies

Distinguished Indian poet, feminist and women's rights campaigner, Kamla Bhasin, died last week. Loudoun County teachers splan to sue school board over gender guidance

A group of public school teachers in Virginia have said they intend to sue the school board over guidance that requires staff to undergo inclusivity training, instructs staff to use students' chosen names and pronouns, and allows students to use the restrooms and locker rooms that correspond to their 'gender identity' rather than their sex. 

The Lancet describes women as 'bodies with vaginas'

British medical journal, The Lancet, used the term 'bodies with vaginas' to describe women on its front cover last week. Following a wave of complaints, the magazine has since issued an apology to those who were offended.

WHRC at FiLiA - 16-17 October
WHRC will be attending FiLiA in Portsmouth, England, on the weekend of 16-17 October. Feminist Question Time will be broadcast live from the conference. 

LGB Alliance conference - London 21 October
